Dead Space 2

Role : Concept Artist

Concepts

Following the critical success of Dead Space, our team embarked on creating a more ambitious and visually complex sequel that would expand Isaac Clarke’s story in meaningful ways. Dead Space 2 represented an opportunity to push the boundaries of what we had established in the original game, both narratively and visually.

During the preproduction phase, I took on the challenge of exploring and expanding the Dead Space universe beyond the confines of the USG Ishimura. My concept work focused on developing new environments, creatures, and atmospheric elements that would enhance the psychological horror while maintaining the distinctive visual identity we had created for the franchise.

The preproduction artwork featured here represents my exploration of this expanded world. I worked to establish visual themes that would support the game’s deeper narrative complexity, creating concepts that pushed the horror elements further while introducing new architectural styles, lighting approaches, and environmental storytelling opportunities. This foundational work helped guide the art team’s vision and established the visual framework that would define Dead Space 2’s unique identity within the series.

Each piece was designed to explore different aspects of the sequel’s world-building, from intimate character moments to sprawling new locations that would challenge both Isaac and the player in fresh ways.
